This year, BeyGOOD decided to celebrate Women’s History Month with our own twist: By celebrating the Art LeadHERs of today, tomorrow and the future of women in the art world. For one special day, International Women’s Day, we partnered with LifeStyleHer, Chime for Change and hosted an unforgettable art experience to help enrich the lives of girls and women through art.
Housed at the beautiful Joseph Gross Gallery, we invited a panelist of women from the art world to spread their knowledge, experience, highs and lows as a woman in arts. Hosted by journalist and art enthusiast Alicia Quarles, the panel included artists Swoon, Zaria Forman, Jody Levy and Ingrid Burley.
The day opened with a nutritious lunch courtesy of Dig Inn and WTRMLN WTR with girls aged 14-16 joining us from the Lower East Side Girls Club, Black Girls Rock and The Arts Coalition for a chance to explore their own creativity through individual creations of art with guidance from an artist from the panel.
Following the panel discussion, each artist took to a designated location in the room to create art alongside the future of women in art, answering their questions, guiding their creative process and allowing the girls to have a day rich in the arts.
The girls in attendance were also treated to a photo booth from Bosco to capture the event, a curated mix of women empowerment anthems courtesy of DJ Yelda Ali, Art LeadHer branded gift bags and a full immersive art experience in Joseph Gross Gallery that we hope they will carry with them for life.
