As we celebrate Black History Month, we're highlighting several Black men and women who exemplify Black excellence, in a series we're calling "We Good." First up, is Dr. Jessica Clemons.
Dr. Jessica Clemons is a Huntsville, Alabama raised psychiatrist, using social media to destigmatize the conversations around mental health. A graduate of Tuskegee University and Weill Cornell Medical College, she launched Twitter and Instagram handle @AskDrJess as a safe space for her growing follower base to talk about all things mental health and create a community that's comfortable in sharing their feelings with one another, and seeking help if needed. The platform has also grown to the IRL series – Be Well – where changemakers across entertainment have live conversations about combatting negativity, their upbringing, how mental health plays a role in their success, and much more. Dr. Jess' ever-evolving platform landed her a live television therapy session (the first of its kind) on VH1, "In Session: Live With Dr. Jess."
There's no sign of things slowing down for Dr. Jessica Clemons, as she continues to host live conversations via Instagram and deliver daily anecdotes for living a life rooted in purpose and positivity, like her motto, "You are not your pain, you are love."
